Dining at Wotton House
Creative menus, locally sourced and served with pride. Our 1877 restaurant is an idyllic setting to enjoy a sumptuous dining experience. From intimate tables under our olive tree to sharing and evening with friends and family at our contemporary bistro table. Our exciting British cuisine is inspired by our 17th century country estate bought up to date with a 21st century twist.
THE 1877 RESTAURANT
At 1877 we embrace and celebrate the beautiful, and yet sometimes, temperamental British seasons. We believe that individually: Autumn, Spring, Summer and Winter, bring their own secret ingredient to the table.
Our Executive Chef, Glen Woods, embraces this difference, he adapts, pushes the boundaries and ultimately showcases food in brilliantly creative way.
We like to pride ourselves, on serving an eclectic menu, that serves and supports the local, whilst redefining ‘modern British’.
We simply cannot wait for you to take a bite.Make a reservation

Did you know that Afternoon tea was created on the premise of a hunger pang?
In 1840, it was the norm to have two meals a day, breakfast and supper. Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford was not convinced by this tradition. She moaned of feeling hungry and rather than wait, she arranged for some tea and cake to be served… in the Afternoon.
She invited friends. And that was it. It was the talk of the town. How else could you get through the day without a mini-meringue?
Fortunately, a bit like Anna, we are partial to a spot of tea and cake. And would like to take this opportunity to invite you to indulge in a range of delicate finger sandwiches, fresh scones and almost-too-pretty-to-eat cake. We would even recommend having a glass of bubbles (or two).
Be like Anna, avoid belly grumbles, and enjoy Afternoon tea the Wotton way.
Please note, bookings are essential for this sweet excursion.
